The Barcham Family
Brendon Joseph Roberts
Brendon was born in Western Australia. He is a descendant of
Captain William Barcham of Mundesley. He grew up in Hamilton, New Zealand and studied
earth sciences at Waikato University. Since graduating Brendon has travelled all
over the world and for five years lived in London where he worked in an antique shop.
He has settled in Sydney where he shares his life and passions for food, wine and
travel with Helen, a lovely English rose. They have two sons, Samuel Joseph and Tom
Robinson.
Known to his friends as 'Badger', Brendon owns an importing and exporting business
which involves frequent trips to New Zealand, Thailand, Indonesia and other Pacific
Rim countries. He also has business interests in the United Kingdom and maintains
contact with his English relations and the many friends he made while living in London.
Brendon's company, Badger's Workshop, markets artefacts that he has sourced in the
Far East. Some of his most popular lines are sand-
Heather is the daughter of Frank and Edna Barcham, Frank being the grandson of Henry Barcham. Born in Sydney, Heather joined the Bank of New South Wales [now known as Westpac] after her school years where she became secretary to the advertising manager. At the age of 20 she and a school friend embarked on the Hector, one of the Blue Funnel Line ships, to explore and work in Britain and Europe. These were the days of Aussies at Earls Court and Rolf Harris singing at the Australia Kangaroo Club. Arriving home after 18 months of travelling and adventure, it wasn't long before itchy feet were urging Heather to travel again. This time to Canada and the USA, where she was able to acquire a position at the Australian Consulate in New York where her cousin, Roy Barcham, was Assistant Trade Commissioner.
Primarily, Heather has worked as a secretary/personal assistant, and for many years was PA to the principal of a firm of chartered accountants in the city of Sydney, before retiring in 2000.
Ten years ago, Heather had the joy of meeting the son she gave up for adoption many
years ago and during that time has seen him get married and start their own family.
Heather has not married, but has had two long-
Heather lives on the central coast of New South Wales, just north of Sydney, which offers a pleasant outdoor lifestyle that she enjoys. She is involved with local activities, and does voluntary work for the Red Cross as well as swimming, walking and tai chi.
