More Schools

Many of the schools attended by Barcham descendants have a distinguished history of academic and sporting achievements and some still exist today.

Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey Arthur Spear (BnB), great-grandson of Sarah (Barcham) Hillman.

Bracondale School, Norwich Jonas Walpole (Lisa Webber's ancestor); also William John Edrich and his nephew John Hugh (JnB).

Southend High School for Girls, Essex Ethel Barcham Iles, her two sisters Florence and Jean went there in the 1930s, and Ethel's daughter Judith Niven (WmB) went in the 1950s. The school celebrated its centennial in October 2013.

County High School for Girls, Ilford, Essex May Williams (WmB) went there in the 1920s while her future husband Bernard Farrow went to the County High School for Boys [girls school is now Woodford County High School].

Manchester Warehousemen and Clerks School, Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire Christopher and Jeremy, sons of May and Bernard Farrow, were day boys at the school in the 1940s and 1950s [now Cheadle Hulme School].  

Whitgift School, Croydon, Surrey Henry and Clarence (Chris) Williams, and John Waterhouse (WmB) went there in the 1920s.  

Cheltenham Training College, Gloucestershire Fanny Elizabeth Barcham (WmB) trained as a teacher from 1857 to 1859 [now part of the University of Gloucester].

Paston School, North Walsham, Norfolk  Leonard John Barcham son of Sarah (Hamilton) and Frank Edward Barcham; also Thomas Colin Barcham son of Thomas Barcham of Knapton (BnB) [Horatio Nelson went to this school which is now Paston Sixth Form College]
